1. What is your biggest challenge in this economy?

The biggest challenge I’ve faced in this current economy is employer and individual confidence in the marketplace. There has been a lot of trepidation to make changes in their health plan due to government uncertainties.

2. What are you doing to overcome the obstacles?

I’m working hard to keep employers and individuals focused on the “here and now” instead of the “what if’s.” We have to proceed forward as a society and implement smart business and benefit decisions. This is a perfect time to analyze and modify benefit plans that will be a win-win for both the employer and the employees. Groups should also include long term wellness strategies to help achieve a healthy and productive employee population.

3. What advice would you offer to agents during this recession?

Stay positive! There is enough doom and gloom out there. You need to be a source of optimism. Bring ideas and solutions to the table. Your confidence and enthusiasm can make a dramatic impact on both individuals and groups.

Stay informed! The public, your groups and individuals need you to be a source of information. We’re in a rapidly changing world. Stay involved with groups like the National Association of Health Underwriters, be part of the solution!

"You might be in the insurance industry if…"
•  You sit in a cubicle smaller than your bedroom closet.
•  Communication is something your “group” is having problems with.
•  All real work is done prior to 9:00 AM and after 5:00 PM.
•  Your boss’s favorite lines are …
”When you get a few minutes…”
”In your spare time…”
”When you’re freed-up…”
”I have an opportunity for you…”
